Perftic Enough

Shortly after reading the letters on the peanut butter jar ("S-K-I-P-P-Y") and declaring, "That spells 'peanut butter'!!", Lyle made his own sandwich.

For the record, I was actually going to refrain from saying anything about spreading that huge glob of peanut butter around, but as soon as he saw me eyeing it with an amused expression, he shrieked defensively, "NO! It's perftic enough!"

And "perftic enough" is exactly what it was.

Well of course it was "perftic" —b/c he "do'd it himself!" ;-)

Okay, the boy gets some big credit for taking the initiative, don't you think? My son would have sat on his toush and yelled, "I'm hungry." By comparison, that is one pretty perftic sandwich.

Yes, Kristen, he does get credit for that! This is why I say very little of a corrective nature when he's taking that kind of initiative. I think it's a 2nd kid quality - Baxter was the prince: "Wipe my nose!", "Make my lunch!" Lyle is all about doing what the big kids do - it's amazing to watch the little one stretch and stretch in an attempt to be mature.

You know, it's interesting. Just today I was thinking my son needed an older brother...

I watched him go off to the playground with my brother and I literally said to myself, "That kid would have LOVED an older brother."

Sigh.

Next time I'm in Chicago, I'm having Lyle make my lunches. Kid's got talent.

Looks "perftic" to me!

Last weekend I walked into the kitchen to find SB trying to use the microwave for the first time. Ever nuke a hot dog for 5 minutes?! :)
