All Their Babies Are Gone Now

I can hardly stand it. I have observed on my Sitemeter in the past couple of weeks a notable spike in people arriving at The Wonderwheel after Googling "anna quindlin all my babies are gone now". I saw this spike around Mother's Day and now here it is again.

When it occurred to me that this can only be due to the fact that a huge number of mothers just sent their last child out into the world this fall - for college or wherever they went - it made my heart hurt.

Or off to preschool. Preschool is KILLING ME. The advent of preschool occurring in the same 3-week period as the baby turning 1 seems unspeakably cruel. I am already crying inside about a couple of Septembers down the line when I will have one starting kindergarten and one starting preschool AT THE SAME TIME. Just kill me now.

Yes, I remember it felt huge to me that Baxter started kindergarten the day after Lyle turned 1. Sometimes all of those big transitions come too close together!

Yeah, I have first grade and preschool starting at the same time. It is tough, probably a big reason why the possible baby talk around here!
